I’m not apologizing for Spoony.
I pity him, yes; I think he should get treated for his depression and quietly go away from the Internet for a while, and get his life/health back on track.
Lupa spoke up for Spoony’s irrational behaviour? Fine. She has the freedom of speech. But why wait A WHOLE MONTH to pull out that chestnut? It felt calculated. It felt like she KNEW she had something to use against the guy and waited for just the right moment to whip out her trump card. It may not even have been about the rape joke - I wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually comes out tht she had conspired with the higher-ups at Channel Awesome or some of the staff to use it as the impetus to finally get Spoony booted off the site, the quality of his work has been declining for quite some time now.
And mellon-collie, I wholeheartedly agree with you on TGWTG essentially being a workplace requiring some degree of professionalism - it’s a business after all, right?
And that’s why I think it’s so thoroughly fucked-up that Channel Awesome turns a blind eye to their employees canoodling it up and having their relationships publicly known on the site.
Nostalgia Chick and bff Nella don’t count. But Nostalgia Chick and Todd? JesuOtaku and Nash? Lupa and Phelous? LinkaraxIron Liz and RosesxPaw when they were an item? I’ll say it once, and I’ll say it again: just one big incestuous CLUSTERFUCK at That Guy With the Glasses, and they seriously need to be cracking some whips over there.
(Even if those relationships were staged for the sake of the fans, then that in itself would be a pretty sad revelation. We’re not talking Kim Kardshian/Kanye West or Kristen Stewart/Robert Patterson over here - these people aren’t high-profile celebrities drumming up publicity for their brand, they’re video contributors on a website, and they shouldn’t be airing their dirty laundry like this, whether their romances are fake or real or otherwise.)
But back to Lupa. What really rubs me the wrong way about this whole situation was that this was the second time in a row that this chick’s name popped up when the shit hit the fan.
Do you recall the 3rd Anniversary special? And no, I’m not referring to the Gatorade scandal - I’m talking about Apollo Z. Hack’s sudden departure from TGWTG last year. I believe there were a myriad of reasons why the dude suddenly up and left the website, a lot of it having to do with disillusionment with his work, but can you blame the guy? And if I recall correctly, Apollo and Lupa were an item at the time as well.
And that’s why I say Lupa is Yoko Ono.
